About the Designers

Ay Lin Heinen and Nelson Sepulveda are the lead designers behind Ay Illuminate, a Dutch lighting company dedicated to producing elegant, unique, and handcrafted lighting pieces.

Ay Lin, co-owner of the brand with her husband Casper Heinen, has been instrumental in building trusted, long-term relationships with rural artisan communities in the Philippines since the company’s founding.

Nelson Sepulveda, a Chilean designer based primarily in Paris, studied Fine Arts and later collaborated with renowned trend forecaster Li Edelkoort, which opened the doors to her creative studio and the broader European design scene.
Nelson has worked on numerous projects and with major brands including Nina Ricci, Le Bon Marché, Caravane, and Hermès. He also serves as the artistic director of Bloom, a trend magazine dedicated to horticulture and design.
