Ethnicraft, a story of friendship and design

The story begins in 1995 when Philippe imported the first container of decorative objects from Indonesia to be resold in Antwerp. Faced with immediate success, he teamed up with Benoit to increase imports.

Very quickly, the enthusiasm was such that customers queued at the port of Antwerp to acquire these unique pieces. The company then evolved by launching its own creations and opening a manufacturing workshop in Indonesia.

Today, the brand is based on a high level of expertise, combining craftsmanship and innovation. Behind its clean lines lies a constant quest for perfection, where every design is meticulously crafted.

The collections feature sustainable materials and pieces designed to stand the test of time, embodying an authentic and demanding vision of design.

Ethnicraft was founded by Benoit Loos & Philippe Delaisse

Designer: Alain Van Havre

"I am fascinated by the freedom that movement generally allows. This is what fuels my desire to escape the static in each of my creations and pushes me to introduce dynamism into every composition."

For Alain van Havre, everything starts with inspiration. Deeply rooted in his environment and passionate about natural materials, he has developed a remarkable mastery of woodworking.

Over time, he has built a unique visual language centered on form, of which the Bok, Graphic, and Stairs collections are the most iconic expressions. According to him, the connection between the user and the object is born when design comes as close as possible to nature.

For over 20 years, Alain has played a key role at Ethnicraft, profoundly influencing creations that have now become familiar and essential.

Jacques Deneef

Based in Antwerp, Belgium, Jacques Deneef is a designer driven by a fascination for essential materials such as glass, wood, leather, paper, and wax.

He entered the world of creation through his talent in oil and acrylic painting.

Today, he is particularly dedicated to bringing found objects back to life, in parallel with his work as a designer in various fields such as jewelry, lighting, textiles, furniture, and decoration.

Through this approach, he transforms these antique pieces into renewed creations, giving them a new function and bringing them closer to their primary purpose: to become works of art.

Paul Delaisse

"The reward lies in the creative process."

For Paul Delaisse, design is based on a balance between form, function, and material.

With over 25 years of experience, his work is fully integrated into the creative process, from the initial concept to meticulous production of each piece, incorporating demanding artisanal expertise.

He explores the relationship between form, space, and perception, by embracing the specific characteristics of each material, either by respecting its nature or by testing its limits. As he himself says: "You measure the quality of a day's work by the amount of sawdust you find in your boots!", illustrating his attachment to manual labor.

His interest extends to storage furniture and upholstered pieces. He has collaborated with high-end brands, as well as with architects and interior designers to bring his vision to life.
